I created these private party videos back in the mid 1990s, long before YouTube. They have a ton of copyrighted music in them, since they were just supposed to be played at private parties. So, thankfully and understandably, YouTube won't allow much of it on it. Thus, here they are on a private page of my own website.
Wow. We really had so much fun back then.
Back in the day, you all knew me as Scott Miazdzyk: ironically called a "straight-cut" editor (working next to Paul Colborne, and often his beautiful black lab Martha). In the evenings, I was lucky enough to also work on the control room front bench for the 8pm live show, along with Sue, Donna, Allan, Suzanne, Phil, Carolyn, Blair and Mark. In the third season, I somehow rolled 3 jobs into one and became the packaging producer and packaging suite editor, and yet still a tape operator (ruffling many feathers, I'm told).
In the mid 1990s, the first three seasons of Studio 2 were, without a doubt, the most cherished years of my career in television. All the trips, inside jokes, parties, creative freedom, romantic flings, poker games and trusted family camaraderie was, at least for me, like nothing else. After I left, I desperately wanted to find and re-create a special team to replace the folks at Studio 2, but nothing ever came close, making those years, and all of you, all the more special.
I went on to various other promo/marketing type writing/producing gigs, and I lasted in TV until about 2012, mainly for CTV National News and CTV's W-FIVE. By then, the painful demise of Canadian television was clearly in view, and so I re-branded myself as Scott Hanton (my mother's maiden name), and ventured into real estate, and never looked back.
It's been about 25 years since I've watched the videos below. But after this year's 30th anniversary bash at Steve's, and after the death of the incomparable and irreplaceable Allan Myers, I dusted them off.
I've got a thousand stories and jokes that could be told about all of the moments and people below, but will let these videos speak for themselves. I hope they bring back special memories that will make you all smile.
Love you all. Thank you for being part of these amazing one-time-only shared moments.
The first video I had so much fun putting together for our 100th show party.
The first party video was apparently such a hit that it was basically expected that I would deliver another one for our 200th show party. Remarkably, we were so tight and comfortable with each other, we had little problem imitating each other for the camera. Lots of additional creative aspects within these party videos and the promos by the talented Rae Upton, Ted Ambrose, and artist David Fisher.
The year I discovered "Tommy" the musical and was too smitten to allow Judy to introduce me to the star, Tyley Ross, when he came into the studio.
I didn't know it back then, but using the "Wonder Years" tv show idea, and mixing it with old Super 8 home movie footage, is even more special to watch now.
I wasn't hired to create and produce promos, but thanks to the trust and total creative freedom of Doug Grant and Allan Myers, one thing led to another and before you knew it...
These are for my own archives, but you might enjoy some of these. Keep in mind this was the mid-1990s, mostly done in a straight-cut edit suite.

Feel the love.
So many great performances. Thank you Judy.
This was Rae, Kevin and Larry and Maurice (?) shooting a promo in my dumpy Sherbourne Street apartment.
Another style of promo for season 3.
